MUS101 - Concert Choir
Prerequisites: None

Students will learn the basic elements of music which include reading music in both the treble and bass clefs, sight-singing, melody, harmony, rhythm, tone color, dynamics, and tempo. They will be able to demonstrate this mastery through choral performances at least four times throughout the school year.
MUS103 - Advanced Handbells

Advanced Handbell classes will continue to develop the basic elements of Music which include reading notes in both treble and bass clefs, melody, harmony, rhythm, tone color, dynamics, and tempo. They will be able to demonstrate this mastery through performances at least three times throughout the school year.

MUS301 - Pre-AP Music Theory

The Pre-AP (Advanced Placement) Music Theory Class is designed to teach the fundamentals of music theory and composition to students who desire to continue next year with the AP Music Theory Class. These fundamentals will be learned through keyboard skills, improvisation, and composition(Various texts and sources are used.) Note: Class will be a prerequisite to AP Music Theory.
MUS401 - AP Music Theory
Prerequisites: Pre-AP Music Theory or Equivalency test

AP Music Theory is a rigorous course that expands upon the skills learned in the Pre-AP Music Theory course which include keyboard skills, solfege singing, reading and notating music on staff paper, call and response, contextual listening, and composition. It is designed to further develop the skills necessary for thoroughly understanding music theory and composition. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to take the AP Music Theory Exam. (Texts: The Musician's Guide to Aural Skills, Norton and The Musician's Guide to Theory and Analysis). Note: Students who take the AP Music Theory class are required to take the AP Exam which costs approximately $78.
