TCH101 - Research Technology

Students are formally introduced to modern research tools and strategies as they practice the gathering, analysis, compilation and presentation of information. Specific topics addressed will include the proper use and evaluation of web-based sources, careful source documentation, report writing, the analysis of arguments, speech performance, writing for film, digital video production, and journalism.
TCH202 - Intro to Computer Hardware and Networking

Periods per week: 2 or 3Credit: .5Grade(s): 9-12
This course will teach the student basics of personal computer hardware and the OS including the parts of the computer and how they work together, including CPU, motherboard, video, sound, memory, drives, etc. and how that will all interact with the operating system. We will also be reviewing current technology trends and developments as they occur. We will be discussing the implications and consequences of decisions made in regard to computer use and implementation. The course will continue with an introduction to basic networking setup and configuration.
TCH302 - Intro to Computer Science
Prerequisites: TCH101-Research Technology
Periods per week: 2 or 3Credit: .5Grade(s): 10-12
This course introduces the students to the realm of Computer Science with a focus on the subdiscipline of Computer Programming. Concepts are introduced and mastered while exploring 3D modeling and simulations. Midway through the course a transition is made to the formal syntax of a modern Object-Oriented programming language. Completion of this course is required for enrollment in AP Computer Science.
TCH303 - Advanced Computer Hardware and Networking
Prerequisites: TCH202, Instructor Approval
Periods per week: 2 or 3Credit: .5Grade(s): 10-12
This course will build on the basics covered in Intro to Computer Hardware and Networking. The material will cover information on "tweaking" the computer settings for better and/or optimum performance. Students will be taught to plan, configure, construct, manage and maintain a Server/Workstation network. The students will also setup users, permissions, shared resources, software deployments and remote connections.
TCH304 - Digital Video Production
Prerequisites: TCH101
Periods per week: 2 or 3Credit: .5Grade(s): 10-12
This course introduces the students to the world of digital and social media. The Media Production Process is studied and mastered, then put into practice via individual and group projects. Projects will vary in size and scope and will focus on a different section of the process.
