Mrs. Winey graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Elementary Education. Due to a desire to improve her art skills and just the sheer enjoyment of creating, she chose Art as her specialty in her academics at Shippensburg. When she graduated, she worked for one year as a Kindergarten teacher at a daycare center in Harrisburg. After just one year, she left her teaching for a job pursuing administrative skills at AT&T. During this time, she continued improving her art skills by helping paint scenery for the large "off-broadway"-type productions at her church, Christian Life Assembly.
The birth of her daughter, Michelle in 1989 steered Jan back to the education arena. She homeschooled Michelle and 2 friends for 3 years, until Michelle began to attend a private school. Jan continued her educating by substitute teaching, as well as, assisting in the Art room for four years.
Jan started working for HCS in October, 2002 when a parent sent her the email advertising the need for a part-time art teacher. She began sharing her love of art to 2nd and 4th grade students.
God's design is all around us in creation, nature, people and animals. She encourages everyone to take time to enjoy God's work of art.
