Summer Packet Information

It is always a bit refreshing for our students to begin their summer recess. Many of our students will be participating in mission trips, working a summer job, traveling with their families, and relaxing after a long school year. In the midst of their busy summer schedules, it is important for students to stay engaged with some academic activities.

These activities will assist students in maintaining their current level of academic progress, will reduce the amount of time during the first marking period set aside to review the previous year's course work, and will enable teachers to provide additional learning opportunities for students as they are able to engage additional material later in the school year.

These summer math and reading activities are curricular requirements for the upcoming school year. Your child's summer math and reading curricular requirements may be downloaded from the following website: Summer Packets. I recommend that you establish with your child a daily routine in which they sit down and work through these assignments.

The math department will be on campus on Thursday July 15th and Thursday August 12th from 9 AM to 11 AM to provide any assistance students may need.

On the first day of school, students must bring the completed math and reading summer requirements with them. They will be reviewed and graded accordingly by their classroom teacher. Students who complete the assignments will also be treated to an HCS Snack Card while those who do not complete the assignments will not receive a grade for doing so.

Thank you for joining us in our pursuit of academic achievement. Please don't hesitate to contact the school if we can be of any assistance to you. We pray that have you a safe and enjoyable summer recess.
