Development

Development is an important aspect of a budding, vibrant Christian School! Harrisburg Christian School has established a Development Committee to assist with the growth of the school.

Above all, none of the following priorities will have impact for HCS if they are not bathed in prayer and guided by the Lord. As you review the items below, please consider praying for God’s direction for HCS in terms of the timing and provisions for each area. Use the list below and our regular prayer calendar as references for prayer.

The first priority, an annual one, is to strengthen and maintain support for the Annual Fund. This fund is the means through which HCS provides many of its need-based scholarships and assists the operating budget with basic maintenance and upgrades to facilities and equipment. Successfully raising support for the fund each year ensures that we keep tuition levels as modest as possible by financially assisting our neediest students while also providing a safe, secure, and properly maintained environment in which all students can develop Christ-like character and academic excellence.

The second project is to grow the scholarship funds through Educational Improvement Tax Credits and private donations. Monies donated to this fund are used to assist families in need that want their children to have a Christian-school education. One of the easiest ways to assist with this project is speak to S-Corporations and standard C-Corporations in Pennsylvania. These corporations can complete a one-page application and, upon approval, can designate most of their state tax money for HCS scholarships via a third-party scholarship organization to which businesses contribute. View applications and information about EITC at the PA Department of Community & Economic Development website. Another way to assist with this project is to donate tax-deductible dollars to the scholarship fund directly or to support regular school scholarship assistance through HCS’s Annual Fund.

Other projects are to raise the Faculty Endowment Fund and the Building Fund. The school already has architectural plans to build a middle/high school (MS/HS) addition, but lacks the funds to move forward with it.
